[CAMARINE SUR] WAKEBOARDING AT CAMSUR WATER SPORTS COMPLEX
There is no doubt that Wakeboarding in the Philippines is becoming bigger and better. Thanks to the beautiful province of Camarines Sur, now considered a prime tourist destination for a genuine water sports adventure.
CamSur Watersports Complex or popularly known as CWC is a world renowned? Watersports park in Bicol region. Professional boarders, most of them are coming from different countries. They fly to Naga? just for the six point cable ski system. This is the very first World class Watersports complex in Asia. It is strategically located within the Provincial Capitol Complex just outside Naga City.
The six hectare complex with its six point cable ski system has been attracting pro riders from countries in Europe, Australia and including the U.S.
I find the place a unique Water sports park. It is specifically constructed for people who want to try wake-boarding as a sport and recreation. The Water sports complex is not just a haven for pro wake-boarders who are die hard enthusiasts of Wake-boarding. The CWC also designed for beginners who just want to try the sport and have a feel of snow boarding and surfing on the water.
Cable ski parks like CWC started in Florida, USA which has been categorized as an extreme water sport all over the world. In the Philippines, the little known sport and recreation is now a booming trendy hobby.
I was really impressed with the cable lake which has plenty of room to execute every air or obstacle. The man made island together with the smooth sandy beaches surrounding it was astounding.
The trendy watersports complex is the brainchild of Governor Luis Villafuerte, who happens to be a huge fan of wake-boarding.
Now what is wakeboarding?
Wakeboarding is described as a cross between surfing and snowboarding on water. But of course the lesser injuries if someone falls into the water. Think of it this way, you try to defy the laws of Physics which unbelievably gives the enthusiast a genuine high.
Pulled by an overhead cable suspended 8-12 meters above water surface. The cable travels continuously and the skiers will be hooked up to the cable and runs counterclockwise around the artificial lake which is powered by a variable speed electric motor.
For beginners, the basic equipment is for free. You will also be guided by a certified resident instructors too.
The Water park is open daily from 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Prices range from Php 170 per hour to Php1000 plus for the whole day and night rate.
The great thing about the sports complex, CWC has its own beach volleyball area, an olympic size swimming pool for those who want to take a break.
If you want to stay for a weekend or even a long holiday getaway, accommodation are up for grabs and is within walking distance from CWC.
They have Eco village, Mansion Suites and Villas which are also located within the vicinity of the Provincial Capitol Complex. You can book for reservations at a reasonable price. Acquaint yourselves with their spacious rooms equipped with air-conditioning system, cable TV channel and hot/cold showers.
I love food so we feasted for gastronomic delights and treats at their in-house restaurants. Take a break at their guest lounges with WI-FI access. Guests will surely enjoy a round of darts, volleyball, football, billiards and feel the traditional massage therapies at their spa and recreation center. Needless to say, CWC is just one of the beautiful destinations in Bicol region. For adventurous people one can also hike to waterfalls, ride helicopters,explore the caves, swim with the whale sharks in Donsol, Sorsogon and finally take pictures with Mt. Mayon as your backdrop.

Getting to Naga is easy. One must take a flight to Naga City via Air Philippines or Cebu Pacific. Travel time takes approximately an hour. If you are up for a challenge? and a genuine adventure, air-conditioned and ordinary buses are also a good option. This time it could take up to 8-9 hours.
