Titans' Kenny Britt charged with DUI at Army post

(AP) ? Tennessee Titan wide receiver Kenny Britt was charged with driving under the influence early Friday as he attempted to pass through a security gate at the Fort Campbell Army installation on the Tennessee-Kentucky state line, military officials said.

Britt was attempting to drive onto the post at Gate 4, which is on the Kentucky side of the installation, and his driving prompted military police to administer a field sobriety test, which showed indicators of intoxication, said Bob Jenkins, a spokesman for the post.

He refused to take a Breathalyzer test and was charged with DUI and implied consent and taken into custody around 3:30 a.m., Jenkins said.

He was later escorted by military police to the gate and released. Jenkins had no information about who was in the vehicle with him.

Team spokesman Robbie Bohren would only say that the Titans were aware of the situation and were gathering more facts on Friday.

This is Britt's eighth run-in with police since he was drafted in 2009. He met in August with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, who chose not to suspend him over repeated police incidents that occurred during the NFL lockout.

He pleaded guilty to a downgraded charge of disturbing the peace for an arrest in New Jersey last year. He's also had legal troubles in Tennessee.

Britt has had arthroscopic surgery on both his knees this year after he tore his ACL and MCL last September. He played in just three games. Over three seasons, he has 101 receptions for 1,765 yards and 15 touchdowns.
